My Story
As a service-connected disabled veteran of the United States Marine Corps, I have a passion for helping my fellow veterans. While serving in the mountains of Afghanistan, I received multiple injuries while on patrol, including gunshot wounds to each arm and in the chest, collapsing my right lung. I received a medivac 4 1/2 hours later. Upon returning home, I suffered from many physical and emotional injuries. I then met a man who would end up saving my life, my national veteran's service officer who advocated for veterans at my local VA. Meeting him not only saved my life, but it is the reason I do whatever I possibly can to help veterans any time I can In 2010, I had the privilege of leading a class-action law suit against the U.S. for illegally denying benefits to discharged veterans. Previously I worked for the regional VA Hospital in the claims office. Now, as the Veterans Benefit Coordinator for Roll-A-Ramp®, I want to make sure disabled veterans receive the benefits for which they are entitled and that they are ensured the freedom of mobility, just as they fought in war to protect the freedom of fellow Americans.
How Roll-A-Ramp is Different
Roll-A-Ramp® is a portable ramp made of an aircraft anodized aluminum making it very sturdy yet light enough to carry by hand. Roll-A-Ramp® can be adapted to meet a variety of accessibility needs. Our ramps come in a variety of widths and can be built to any length desired. Ramps roll up like a sleeping bag for convenient storage and easy portable.
Veterans may be eligible for a ramp at little or no cost through HISA and other funding sources. This can be used for service and non-service connected disabled veterans. We also work with adaptive housing grants for veterans.
